Appraising Treasury Workstations: A Practical Approach to Selection & Implementation

  • Treasury Workstations ("TWS") have become much more prevalent with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley and the continuing pressures on Treasury staff resources.
  • This session will explore a large and diverse corporation's experiences in determining the right workstation for them. A comparison of main features and functionality will be used as a means to overview what's out there today.

    Objectives

    • Understand the "drivers" behind the movement to treasury workstations
    • Learn simple steps to evaluate whether a workstation is a practical solution for your organization
    • Develop appropriate criteria and an analytical approach to evaluating workstations for your company

Craig S. “Sandy” Saxer  has spent most of his 39-year career as a treasury professional and consultant to corporate treasuries. In his current assignment, he is responsible for sales opportunity development and treasury management’s strategic development focus on working capital services for clients and prospects.

Mr. Saxer graduated from Haverford College in 1969, with a B.A. in Economics, and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Pennsylvania.  He also holds a permanent Certified Cash Manger (CCM) designation from the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP).  He is a frequent speaker at AFP, Keenan-Flagler School of UNC and various regional treasury, accounting and credit associations. During 2007 he has spoken at an AFP Webinar on the Acquisition of Treasury Services anf Fraud Control at MTMA, TMANE, AFP-IN and at the annual AFP conference.  He has also spoken on three separate occasions to the Western New York AFP group on various treasury trends. Mr. Saxer has authored several articles: “EDI: Data and Payments Issues”, Journal of Cash Management; “Advanced Cash Management Measurement techniques”, Corporate Cash Flow Magazine; “Improving Quality of Bank Relationships”, TMA Journal;

    Chris Scott is a Technical Product Consultant for BB&T where he supports the Payment Solutions Group.  His scope of responsibilities consists of supporting the Payment Consultants staff where treasury management products require technology solutions.  Prior to joining BB&T, Chris was a Vice President and a Senior Technical Product Consultant for Bank of America Global Treasury Management.  Chris Scott worked with fortune 500 companies domestically and overseas deploying and integrating technical treasury management solutions.  Chris Scott has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.

The Tampa Bay Association for Financial Professionals meets quarterly (three credits per meeting). In June, we host an all day seminar, with the opportunity to earn at least seven certified credits.

Please contact the Chief Information Officer, if you are interested in attending a meeting, would like more information about our meetings, or would like to be a speaker.

Meeting dues include earning your certified CCM, CTP or CPE credit, breakfast, beverage, and the opportunity to network. Meeting dues are due  before the meeting (online credit card payment-preferred, check or money order) . If you are not submitting payment prior to the meeting, please arrive early to allow the meeting to start on time. If your online payment is made less than 48 hours prior to the event, please bring a copy of your online payment receipt to the event.

$75    TBAFP Members                $90 Non TBAFP members

**Payment is due if cancellation notice is not received within 48 hours prior to the meeting/event, unless you are able to replace your reservation.
